In 2016 Irish Oxygen partnered with the Italian company SOL Group to produce medical gases, and now supply medical gas to many of Ireland's Hospitals and Medical facilities.
We are seeking a diligent and safety conscious Acetylene Plant Operator to join our growing gas production team. You will be join our team in the generation, purification, and compression of Acetylene gas into cylinders, ensuring our customers receive a high-quality product consistent with our ISO standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the Acetylene generator, including the feeding of calcium carbide and monitoring of water levels.
Oversee the multi-stage compression process and ensure cylinders are filled safely to the correct pressure-to-solvent ratio.
Conduct rigorous pre-fill inspections of cylinders, checking for hot spots, shell integrity, and proper solvent levels.
Perform gas purity tests and analysis to ensure the product meets specifications.
Assist the maintenance team in the upkeep of the generator, compressors, and flame arrestors.
Maintain precise logs of batch numbers, carbide usage, and safety checks in accordance with our Quality Management System.
Testing acetylene cylinders to ensure safe usage and certification
You will have:
Experience in a production, chemical, or mechanical environment is highly preferred (experience in the gas industry is a major plus).
You are someone who diligently follows SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
The role involves some manual handling of gas cylinders and moving raw materials (calcium carbide drums).
Able to work closely with our yard operators, quality team, and management.
An understanding of the risks associated with gases and high-pressure systems.
