I have been working in the Client Service Department for more than two years. In my team, we have a designated portfolio of high profile clients whom we assist over the phone and via email with their queries (payments, system issues, procedures, etc).
During this time, I have acquired a valuable knowledge about finances and banking (payment methods, flows, processing, SWIFT messaging...) and I have become proficient in the use of different systems.
The best part of the job is the fact of having your own clients, getting to know them and building a relationship. The hardest part is the complexity of certain financial transactions and regulations (i.e SEPA) and understanding how it works.
As for the management, I think that there are some aspects that it could be improved such as the lack of organization during periods of high volumes and promoting the team building in the company.
Poor reward programs to encourage the accomplishment of the business goals and low salaries compared to other companies for the same position.
Overall, what I enjoy most is working in a multilingual environment with a varied number of nationalities and languages across the floor. It is a workplace where the respect and tolerance are present and, to me, this is a sign of cultural richness.
This was a challenging and difficult role but Citi provided all the support and training necessary.
Most of the work came through email. It was necessary to respond to all emails as soon as possible and to complete the associated work generated by them within a prescribed timeframe. Time management was a vital part of the daily routine along with the prioritisation work. The co-operation of work colleagues and problem solving together with them and the sharing of work at peak volume times was essential. There were a lot of reports which had to be completed on a daily basis and these fed statistics into management reports and so had to be very accurate. The most enjoyable part of the job was at quarterly section meetings good results couold be shown and people were recognised for their efforts
I enjoyed working in Citi and would work for them again if work balance could be improved.
Citi works hard to promote and encourage diversity within the organisation and I believe this contributes to creating a positive atmosphere at work.
Workload distribution is poorly managed which led to questionable promotion and high turn over of staff.
Feedback provided by management on job application are not always truthful which also increase discontent.
The hardest part of the job for me was to see good employees losing their motivation because of poor management decision.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the opportunity to collaborate with my colleagues.
High paced environment with high expectations from all staff
My current day to day role is involved with new clients/business coming on board. IT requires co-ordination between a number of departments and senior management. Deadlines are extremely tight, work volume is high and expectations are demanding however the team are very organised, they work together, daily on the job learning and training is to a high standard and personalities compliment each other. I pride myself in my organisational skills and have found this role to require them more than any other which I’m thoroughly enjoying at present.
ProsWork life balance, early start and finish times & work from home.

Customer Service Representative | Dublin | 30 Aug 2017
productive and fun work, good team
I receive around 35-40 calls per day and send 15-20 emails
Every day I learn something new regarding payments. We use so many methods of payment, like SEPA, WIRE, ACH, CHECK, WESTER UNION.
The workplace is okay, may be a litte bit old.
The hardest part of the job is when we have the new campaign and we have to provided the proof of life. If a pensioner does not fill out the form they wont receive the payment. Then, many clients are concerned about not being able to receive their payment.
The most enjoyable part of the job is the team. We are really friends. When I go to work I have fun, and I think this is so important!
Opportunity to work remotely, diversity and inclusion. There is great room for growth. Big canteen.
Results Driven – strong ability to seek out, understand and deploy best practices at workplace, always with a focus on delivering reliable and timely responses to work responsibilities

Citi are great advocators of a good work life balance. Working from home is becoming more common and having to commute a good distance every day the team are so accommodating with flexible start and finish times. good place to work and great pay. you will be looked after in this company. red tape can be overwhelming but you get used to the process of a large multinational company.
Prosgood work life balance - time in lieu for additional hours worked at discretion of manager
Conspolitics - red tape - everything takes ages to get approval once going to higher management.
Citi is a huge company and has a very structured and focussed work environment. Teams are composed of people who can do their job and professionalism and dedication are expected. They reward those able to perform and teamwork and ability are recognised.
While individual jobs tend to be focussed on very specific tasks, there is mobility between jobs for those who wish. They have excellent focus on employee satisfaction with generally good communication between different teams and up and down the management tree.
